On Sunday January 8th, I went to Barnes and Noble armed with $85 in gift cards. Unfortunately, none of the things I wanted were in the store. I came home and ordered it all online. I had to do it in 2 orders, since you can only use one card per order. According to the USPS tracking site, both orders left the warehouse for shipping on Wednesday January 11th.

On Tuesday January 17th, one of the two packages arrived in my post office box. One week later on Tuesday the 24th, I checked the tracking site again. It showed the one had been delivered, but the other was still waiting to be shipped. I emailed Barnes and Noble, not being able to find a phone number (it's 1-800-the-book if anyone is interested) and they replied telling me to wait until the 26th. If it had not come by then, then talk to my post office and ask if they were delaying it for some reason.

I did, they were not, I emailed that info back. Within minutes, rather than the 24-48 hours they ask you wait for a response, I get another one saying that that was unacceptable, and if I would like, I could reorder, not be charged again, and they would send it free shipping and handling. I agreed and got another email, within minutes, saying that my new order is ready for shipping.

We'll see. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

edit: Ok, so I just got off the phone with a friend of mine, who has an ego the size of Africa. We were talking about my day and he mentioned that he could never teach the age I do. High School maybe, but as he said, "I'm considered rather good looking, and a good conversationalist, so I don't want to deal with the crushes." I was laughing so hard, so silently, I was afraid I would suffocate.

Vent, bitch, gripe, moan

1. Who knew that my watch, the two clocks in my classrooms, the one in the entryway, the one in my car, as well as the one in my bedroom and bathroom AND the one on my cell were ALL wrong? Yep, that's right. Every single one. Strange thing is, when I called 555-1212 to get the time to fix all these wrong clocks, that THEY would be wrong too? Utterly amazing.

Who knew that the one in my boss's classroom is the ONLY clock that has the world's only correct time? So...according to this...I was 5 minutes late to work today, and the first child to arrive was stuck outside for 5 minutes while I frittered away my time at home, or brushing the snow off my car or something? I am so bloody dumbfounded.

2. I’m only the slightest bit gratified that my $83 gas bill in December has gone done to $71 for January. Twelve fucking dollars. I’ve been freezing my ass off for twelve fucking dollars?

3. I've gained 7 pounds between the week before Christmas and today.

4. Blogger is on crack. This is the 4th attempt to publish this blog, AND have it show up. Published at 1:57 pm my ass. 6:00 pm is more like it.

New Template...yet again

Inspired by Heidi's pretty new template, I decided to make a new one. What do you think?

I was also tired of that picture of me, so I put in a pretty one of the London Eye.

I suppose I should update, but I really have nothing new to report. I go to work, I come home, I go to dollar movies on Tuesday nights, and that's about it. I saw Tristan and Isolde on Saturday. It was so good! I hear it's very different from the myth, but who cares? It was so sweet. I have tomorrow off; maybe I'll go shopping or something.

Yeah, yeah, I know. What a thrilling life I do lead.

Brokeback Mountain

I give it 3 stars. It's good, but not the best I've seen. It made me cry, of course, what doesn't? I didn't care for the ending, because there wasn't really one. There was a particular touching scene involving an article of clothing, but I won't go into details for those of you who haven't seen it yet.

So I saw this at 12:30 today, after spending the morning in the Urgent Care clinic with Jeannie who has been sick for the past week or so, and finally decided to do something about it. Turns out it was bronchitis, which is probably what I had. Thank goodness for mom and her OTC Canadian codeine! Tomorrow it's back to work. I so don't want to go back yet! I'm not ready!
